Privacy Policy

Rascalsoft has established this Privacy Policy to explain what information we collect through our websites and how it is used.

Rascalsoft runs and maintains the Parent/Teacher Appointments website found at ptappt.com and all of its subdomains (e.g., www.ptappt.com, demo.ptappt.com).

Rascalsoft does not sell or rent customer, user or website visitor information under any circumstances, and we do not share customer, user or visitor information without prior consent except as compelled by law. (See discussion below.)

Within this document, we distinguish between the webpages hosted at our primary address at www.ptappt.com (herein referred to as “WWW Site”) and our subsidiary websites which include all customer-contracted websites and our demo site at demo.ptappt.com (herein referred to as “Subsidiary Sites”).

Within this document, “customer” refers to any entity subscribing to the service for payment, and “user” refers to any person interacting with the website.

Information Gathered by Parent/Teacher Appointments

Logging: For visitors to our website, requests are logged to our web server, and we do internal analytical logging on this data.

Visitors to the WWW and Subsidiary Sites without their “do not track” option enabled are also logged through Google Analytics for further analysis. You may opt out of this by turning on the “do not track” option in your browser. Cookies: Google Analytics will add tracking cookies to your browser when accessing our sites unless you have disabled tracking through the “do not track” feature in your browser. We use session ID cookies whenever a user logs into any of our Subsidiary Sites. Session cookies expire when you close your browser. If a user selects “Remember me?” when logging in through these sites, we use persistent ID cookies to store their login information. Persistent cookies stay on the user’s computer for up to 4 weeks unless removed by the user.

Google Authentication: If you log in using a Google account, then your email address, Google ID and basic Google profile information is shared with us. The only information we share with Google in this case is the fact that you logged into our website.

Voluntarily Submitted Information: In addition, Rascalsoft collects and retains information you voluntarily submit to us. It is up to you whether to submit information to us, and how much information to provide. If you subscribe to the Parent/Teacher Appointments service as a customer, we may ask for identifying information such as your name, email address, mailing address and phone number and will retain that information. We may ask for your credit card number when subscribing but will not retain it.

We may ask for additional personal information when you provide feedback or comments, or otherwise communicate with us.

Rascalsoft’s Use of Information

In general, Rascalsoft uses the information provided by you in order to facilitate scheduling of parent/teacher conferences. We do not use the information for our own purposes.

Third-Party Service Providers to Rascalsoft

Parent/Teacher Appointments employs a number of third-parties in order to operate. These include third-party hosting providers, such as cloud hosting services, email services, and a a credit card processor for payment processing. These service providers may place session cookies on your computer. Rascalsoft’s service providers may also log standard technical information, such as the numerical Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our site; and the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site. Our service providers may also store and organize the personal information collected through this site on our behalf.

For all of Rascalsoft’s service providers, hosting providers and credit card processors and any other providers we may use in the future, the information collected from Parent/Teacher Appointment users remains protected by the terms of our agreements with those providers and we will ensure that the information to be kept confidential and disclosed only to employees who require such access in the course of their assigned duties. Rascalsoft also requires all of our third-party service providers to notify Rascalsoft if they receive legal process seeking information about visitors to any of Rascalsoft’s websites.

Rascalsoft may change the specific third-party providers from time to time, and will transfer stored information to any new provider subject to similar restrictions and agreements. From time to time, Rascalsoft may work with third-party consultants or other service providers who may have access to personally identifiable information. In such cases, we will restrict their use of personally identifiable information in accordance with their assigned tasks.

Disclosure of Your Information

While Rascalsoft endeavors to provide the highest level of protection for your information, we may disclose personally identifiable information about you to third parties in limited circumstances, including: (1) with your consent; or (2) when we have a good faith belief it is required by law, such as pursuant to a subpoena or other judicial or administrative order.

If we are required by law to disclose the information that you have submitted, we will attempt to provide you with prior notice (unless we are prohibited or it would be futile) that a request for your information has been made in order to give you an opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will attempt to provide this notice by email, if you have given us an email address, or by postal mail if you have entered a postal address. If you do not challenge the disclosure request, we may be legally required to turn over your information.

In addition, we will independently object to requests for access to information about users of our site that we believe to be improper.

Updating or Removing Your Information

You may choose to correct, update, or delete the information you have submitted to us by sending an email requesting changes to help@ptappt.com. We will respond to all such requests within two business days. However, please understand that deleted information may continue to persist on backup media.

Changes to Our Policies

Rascalsoft’s Privacy Policy may change from time to time. If we make any substantive changes to our policies, we will email all customers of the changes and post notice of changes on this page.

Security

Rascalsoft employs industry standard security measures to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. Password information is cryptographically stored using strong cryptography.

Although we make good faith efforts to store information collected by Rascalsoft in a secure operating environment, we cannot guarantee complete security. Information collected by Rascalsoft will be maintained for a length of time appropriate to our needs. We do not retain credit card information.
